Alternatives to MIT Inventor

App from Scratch

There are many different on-line platforms for building mobile apps, I'm going to focus on Android apps as I have a Samsung and it allows me to test them for myself. As we have already explored MIT as part of this module I am going to look at other available options.

Android is also beneficial when building apps as there are minimal amount of rules when it comes to publishing apps on Google Play and no rules when it comes to publishing on other Android marketplaces.

Universo

Universo is a platform that allows any user to create mobile Apps for Android in minutes with zero programming knowledge.

What I like about this is that you can use your existing content from social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, your RSS feeds or use CMS to add new content.

With this app developer, you can learn how to create an Android project and run a debuggable version of the app. You'll also learn some fundamentals of Android app design, including how to build a simple user interface and handle user input.

A deeper look at the future of Coding

Is coding going to become an integral part of the school system? Personally I believe that now days teaching children to code is of vital importance, especially girls. In order to shift the gender imbalance that is currently apparent in many major companies it is vital that girls are encouraged to utilise these skills...and learn early.

That said I don't believe that it's as simple as assuming that every child will be able to code, merely that those with the interest and ability should be given the opportunity to learn.

Personally I have been using code academy and find it to be a brilliant starting platform for ll want to be coders.

Athough I am generally a fan of all social media, flickr is not my cup of tea

•  I found Yahoo dated and aloud it at all costs
• I don't feel like it's filling it's niche any more, Facebook and Instagram make for better instant shares
• As a means of archiving digital photography, Dropbox, Microsoft and Google are stepping in and upping the game
• I find the layout too big and in your face
• It's not very user friendly

To Cast or not Cast, that is the answer

As the laptop i am currently using is ancient ( 5 years is a lot in the laptop universe ) I had some trouble getting the screen cast-o-matic to work. Eventually I managed to download the app to Google Chrome

I decided to do a short video outlining my WordPress blog, it is interesting to note the differences between WordPress and Google blogger as blogging platforms

• Here is an interesting article highlighting the main differences between the two. the main reason I use WordPress as my own blogging platform is that my material is my own. Google owns the rights to all material written in blogger. 
• On the other hand blogger is much easier to use , and design to your liking. In ordrer to tweak wordpress to your exact preferences one really need to have a basic knowlege of html and Css

Collaboration and using Groups

As the digolet allows you to bookmark information across the web it is ideal for group work. You can also sign into Diigo from any laptop as long as you have internet access making life a million times easier for college students who have once again forgotten their laptops ( the bane of group work)

Sharing

• I found the sticky note option fantastic for sharing information. Here I was able to link a web page to my group member and simply add a note along with it.

I have been a keen pinner for some time now,I find it to be a fantastic place for scrap booking my internet experience as well as stories ideas and travel tips
